Holy mama! Can anyone say HOT! It hit 104 degrees in Austin this week. And I don’t know about you, but just like a thermometer, as the temperature rises my agitation spikes.
Excess heat may be uncomfortable for the body, but it also creates irritation in the mind. We need a way to offset external heat absorption to sustain a calm state-of-being.
Just as cooling foods like cucumber and watermelon help reduce inflammation in our system, focusing on cooling movements enhances your ability to keep your mind in check during the dog-days of summer.
This week’s 20-minute FREE floor yoga class, Yoga for Keeping Your Cool, is all about reducing heat in the body and mind. Through asana, breath work and meditation we will disperse heat to reduce agitation and enhance overall comfort.
