The peaceful holiday season is upon us and with it often comes additional stress. The pressure to get the perfect gift for a loved one, decorate the house, and attend festive celebrations can be overwhelming for many. If the holidays feel a little chaotic, you are not alone and there is a good reason for it.
In nature, the winter is a time to slow down, do less, and draw inward. Animals and plants hibernate during the cold weather to conserve energy. As humans, we are also aligned with the cycles of nature. Except, when we are supposed to go into our own “hibernation” we instead venture out to fight the crowds to get a last-minute present or get decked out to go to an all-night holiday party. Not the best way to protect our energy.
So, if you are overcome by the never-ending holiday to-do list, take some time for yourself to relax and unwind. You may find sipping a warm drink in front of a fire or unwinding in a hot bath may be more beneficial than dressing up as the Grinch and going Christmas caroling.
