Blocking Out the World – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

Going a little stir crazy stuck at home with all the togetherness?  Let me give you a piece of advise, coming from a girl who survived spending every breathing moment, 24/7 with her daughter and husband in close quarters for a full twelve-months during our adventure around the world.

The only way to thrive during these congested circumstances is to carve out time to be alone.  While traveling on the road, my savior was running outdoors.  No matter where I was, I would head out the door first thing in the morning, put on my earbuds and listen to chanting meditations while my cares melted away.

My daughter, Kayla, focused on her art work when she needed a reprieve from family time.  And my husband took to the gym to work out any of his frustrations.

Don’t get me wrong.  We all love family time.  But, in order to enjoy each other’s company, you have to experience some necessary contrast.  And that is called intentional solo time.

Under these most recent conditions, where families are encouraged to exist with each other in collective environments for extended periods of time, it is imperative that you carve out a few moments each day for yourself.  For some of us, that is more challenging than it sounds.

With little kids demanding attention, teenagers begging for something to do and everyone trying to work from home, things can get a little distracting.  That is why this week’s yoga practice is about residing in the calm eye of the storm while all the commotion spins around you.

A big shout out to our good friends Morgan, Thomas and Dixie and a thanks to Scott and Kayla, for providing all the background disruptions in my video to allow me the opportunity to practice my inner Zen during the diversions.  Tune in to see the environmental challenges I need to overcome to keep my tranquility.

This week’s 27-minute FREE Hatha Flow Yoga Class, Yoga for Blocking Out the World, is all about finding your center in the midst of all the chaos. Through asana, breath work, visualization and meditation, we will enhance our ability to tune out the world and tap into ourselves to reestablish connection to our highest vibration.
