Committing to a Long Term Goal – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I am honored to call this lovely, hippy couple Mom and Dad.  They are celebrating their 50-year anniversary today and I am privileged to have witnessed their beautiful relationship all my life.

When I say beautiful, that does not mean perfect.  Like any relationship, my parents have had their roller coaster ride through life.  But, what I admire most about their relationship is their steadfast commitment to each other.

No matter how challenging the situation, they always seem to pull through and stand by one another in the end.  They have set an incredible example of dedication and loyalty for our family and have built a solid foundation for love to flourish.

Sometimes we look at an accomplishment without acknowledging all the milestones along the way.  We forget all the effort and energy it takes on a daily basis to stoke the fire that moves us towards a goal.

Just like cultivating a solid relationship, achieving any goal takes great devotion. You put the time into building physical and mental muscle, practicing and visualizing the end result.

For the past two-years, I have been developing my flexibility and strength for handstand. When I was little, I could pop up into a handstand without any effort. But now, the change in my body shape and center of gravity along with stiffer joints, has made this pose more challenging. Step by step, with effort and preparation, I have seen progress towards my goal.
This weeks’s 18-minute FREE yoga class, Yoga for Committing to Handstand Prep, is all about dedicating your efforts to an end goal. Through warm up postures that engage and strengthen your shoulders, wrists and hands, and opportunities to safely practice kick ups, every level of yogi will have the chance to build up to our peak pose, handstand. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to commit to working towards handstand little by little and celebrate the successes along the way. Enjoy!
