Flowing with the Universe – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

My friend, Lita, put on another fabulous virtual dance party, and as you might have guessed, the theme for this one was “Mer-May, Under the Sea”.  Mermaids and Mermen came out to strut their stuff to the nautical vibe of DJ Kittylixx.

I love getting dressed up in costume and recruited my in-house make up artist, my daughter Kayla, to design my mermaid look.  She peaked around the house to see what creative resources she could tap into and found the mesh of an avocado bag.  Voila, scales!

Before we got into the groove, one of Lita’s friends talked about the meaning and power of water and the importance of this precious resource.  The element of water is connected with our creativity and is weaved through every aspect of our lives.  Our bodies being composed of 99% water gives us a huge tie to this constituent. Our lives begin in a liquid filled sac, as we are nurtured into being.  Even our breath resembles the ebb and flow of an ocean wave, as the energy builds and contracts within our body with every inhale and exhale.

Although water can be a very powerful force, it is also a symbol of ease.  My husband, Scott, is a motivational speaker.  In his speeches, he often talks about the only way to overcome the strength of a riptide is to  release to the pull of the current. And, eventually you will have the ability to swim to shore further down the beach.

If we stop trying to swim upstream against the current of our lives and allow ourselves to drift within the movement of the universe, we will find ourselves in a state of Flow.  In this high vibe state, things happen naturally with ease.  Solutions come to mind quickly and problems get resolved without effort.  And abundance pours into our lives.

All we need to do is let go, stop directing and release the “Control” we think we have over everything.  Test this method out for yourself and get back to me with your results.

This week’s 21-minute FREE Hatha Flow Yoga Class, Yoga for Cultivating Flow, is all about syncing with the rhythm of your life.  Through Ujjayi mindfulness breathing and a rhythmic flow practice connecting our bodies with our breath, we will invite our natural underlying current into our lives.
