Scott and I just found out that our annual Costa Rica Yoga Retreat was cancelled. This is the first time in 10-years that we will not be enjoying the incredible view of the Pacific Ocean from Anamaya Resort’s stunning yoga deck. Costa Rica will not allow Americans to enter the country at this time and I can’t blame them.
It seems like the past four months have been an endless list of event terminations to include the Women’s Weekend Wellness Retreat that was supposed to be held in April, a family reunion in May and my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary celebration with extended family. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is feeling the let down from not being able to celebrate with family and friends or go on a vacation this summer.
Don’t get me wrong. I am so incredibly grateful that my family is healthy, Scott and I both have our jobs and we can put food on the table. Missing a trip or an event seems so petty when comparing it to the horrific challenges many people have faced over the months. But, it is still disappointing non-the-less.
If you are feeling disheartened about postponed plans, you are not alone. It is absolutely normal to be upset over not getting to do something you were looking forward to. And, you have every right to feel however you feel. In fact, it is imperative that you process your emotions effectively by first acknowledging your thoughts of frustration, sadness or anger. Next, it is important to feel these emotions completely. And finally, it is essential that we let go of these emotions and move forward.
This week’s short 10-minute FREE floor yoga class, Yoga for Letting Go of Disappointment, is all about recognizing your emotions, processing them through heart opener movement and breath work and releasing them to make space for other possibilities.
