Well, I am excited to say that I just completed the first round of the book I have been writing about my family’s year-long adventure around the world. It feels wonderful to finally have all my thoughts and stories about the experience down on paper. However, anyone that has written a book knows that the transcribed words are just the beginning of the birthing process. There is the editing, cover design, proof reading, publishing etc.
I have been an editing maniac over the past few weeks.
Along with sitting in front of a computer for hours on-end, comes unsolicited aches and pains. Sitting for long periods of time is one of the most destructive things you can do to your body. Many of us working from home, reclining on non-traditional “office chairs” such as couches, beds and kitchen stools, can attest to discomfort and tightness in our low backs.
If we do not address these issues, overtime the pain may begin to radiate down the legs and turn into a more serious condition called Sciatica. Sitting can pinch the sciatic nerve and cause permanent damage over time. The symptoms appear as numbing, tingling or a shooting pain down one of the legs.
Tuning into your body’s needs during this unique time is imperative for maintaining good physical and mental health. Taking breaks to stretch and move every hour is an easy way to prevent injury.
