Changing Your Story – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

My family and I made our way over to Eastern Europe and have spent the past couple of weeks in the Austria/Hungary area.  I was very excited for my first visit to this region because my Great Grandma Yetta was born here.  My Aunt reminded me that she and her family fled from their homeland to America in the early 1900’s due to anti-semitic conditions.

The area made me a little sentimental, as I thought of her story and how her feet touched this land even if only for a short while as a young child.  It was comforting to go to restaurants and order many of the delicious, familiar foods my Grandma once served at her home like potato pancakes, kugel noodles and dumpling soup; many recipes passed down from her Great Grandma to her Mom.

Knowing the story of my roots helps me to feel grounded in my family history and have a better understanding of how I came to be.  I wonder what our family chronicle would have looked like had my Great Grandma not landed in America.

There are many “stories” that create the person we are today.  Stories of the past can build a healthy foundation for growth on our life’s path.  But, sometimes we get stuck in stories that no longer serve us.  Based on our own personal experiences and traumas subconsciously passed down from generation to generation, we often find ourselves residing within a story of lack.

Have you ever focused on the mantras “I can’t”, “I’m not good enough” or “There’s not enough?”   These are stories that we tell our inner world, which greatly effect the conditions of our outer world.  The incredible thing is we all have the opportunity to change our tale to “I can”, “I’m worthy” and “There’s endless abundance in my life”.

I love being a guinea pig with things like this and testing it out on myself.  And what I have found is my outer world conditions are an exact reflection of my inner world.

Don’t believe me?  Try it out for yourself.  Bring awareness to a negative story you have laid for yourself.  Now for one week, replace that story with the exact opposite positive phrase.  Repeat it over and over to yourself.  Visualize it.  Even if you don’t believe it, fake it till you make it.  And then see if your circumstances change.

This week’s 16-minute FREE Hatha Yoga Class, Yoga for Changing Your Story is all about shifting your mind from I can’t to I can. This beginner yoga class will assist you in preparation for headstand. It will demonstrate headstand modifications so that everyBODY can benefit from this inversion.

Changing your internal story from a stunted mindset of “impossible” to a growth mindset of “not yet” reflects the openness of limitless possibility in your outside world. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to say “I can!” Enjoy!
