We journeyed to the beautiful city of Chang Mai in the northern region of Thailand, surrounded by the mountains. Just outside of this vibrant town, Scott, Kayla and I had the opportunity to visit the Ethical Elephant Sanctuary, where we spent an incredible day feeding, mud bathing and rinsing the elephants in the river under a magnificent blue sky.
After these majestic creatures ate tons of sugar cane and banana leaves, they were ready for a little exercise. So, we walked with them up a hill and into the jungle for some cardio. My family and I sprinted up the hill and as we made it to the top, I stopped to notice the elephants slowly trudging up the slope behind me.
Step-by-step, they mindfully planted each foot, one in front of the other. Their deliberate cadence was so rhythmic and purposeful and reminded me to slow down and be more present.
In honor of these splendid beings, this week’s 23-minute FREE Hatha Yoga Class, YOGA FOR BEING MINDFUL, is all about tuning into the body and mind and being purposeful with each asana. This gentle yoga class will increase flexibility, enhance consciousness of the body and mind and bring you into the present moment.
