Powerful Self-Talk – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I just spent a full day of pampering celebrating 47-times around the sun.  My birthday always spurs on a lot of reflection about the person I was and who I am today, right at this moment.

I can tell you, almost five decades deep into my life, that I feel really good in my own skin.  But, that wasn’t always the case.  There was a time in years past when I had self doubt.  

Leaving corporate America to venture off and create my own business left me in a state of uncertainty.  I questioned my capabilities.  And along with my reservations came an influx of negative self-talk filled with fear.  My language focused on lack as I repeated phrases like “You can’t do this.  What makes you think you know enough to be an expert in your field?  How will you ever replace the large income you just left.  You are a fool for thinking you can make it.”

One day, I caught these thoughts unconsciously swirling around in my mind.  And I couldn’t imagine why I let them overtake my conscious thinking, so much so that they froze me into inaction.  

I vowed right then that every time a false assumption popped into my head, I would replace it with a powerful “I am…” statement.  Soon, all my deflating internal dialect was swapped with empowering declarations like “I am a beautiful energetic being capable of accomplishing anything.”  Quite a different effect, don’t you think?

And, what do you think happened next?  Slowly, over time, I began to firmly believe my proclamations.  And the universe started to mirror my convictions by providing incredible opportunities to step into the confident, powerful being I was projecting.

Your self-talk is the number one thing that creates the person you are in this very moment.  All you have to do is ask yourself who do I want to manifest?  And then match your internal speech to those characteristics.  WARNING:  This is a potent practice.  Side effects of spontaneous self-love and overwhelming abundance may occur.
