Finding Renewal

After my dad’s passing just a few weeks ago, I have been spending a lot of time working in my garden to decompress and get grounded. Spring cleaning the yard has been very healing for me and has provided some time for me to contemplate my emotions around the death of this special man.

I was pulling down the dead vines of jasmine that were killed by the freak frost we had back in February. It took me five years to train them to grow up and through the railings surrounding my deck and they made my back yard look like a gorgeous, lush jungle. Looking at the browned plant material made my heart heavy as I snapped each vine from its entwined home.

I worked my way down from the top of the dense foliage and when I made it to the base I noticed something amazing. There were brand new jasmine sprouts popping up along the entire length of my deck. This whole time I thought the plants were dead. But, in reality the energy of the plant was alive and active underneath the surface. I just couldn’t see it.

The plant’s sustainability made me realize that it is very similar to my dad’s passing. Although his physical body is no longer with us, his energetic body is still alive and well. I just can’t see it with my human eyes.

My dad loved science. And in the law of science energy can not be created or destroyed, just transformed. He has transformed into something greater. I feel him in everything.
