I don’t know if it’s the heightened world climate or my chaotic internal climate, but I have been inundated with emotions of anger and frustration this week. Then, I remembered we are approaching the Autumn Equinox this Tuesday, September 22nd and I thought “Well that explains it.”
The autumn equinox is a mysterious time. It is the perfect balance between day and night before night takes over and brings a space for winter’s inner observance. The Fall Equinox is a time for us to reflect on our dark side and make room for things to be born in the spring. I guess I have plenty to reflect on…
Darkness exists in all of us, as we are all flawed, imperfect human beings. Darkness, ignored, grows and takes over like a cancer-it is only when it is dragged into the light that we can overcome it. Autumn is the time to face this darkness. It is a physical reminder of things we need to honor and address within ourselves.
This week’s 18-minute FREE Yin Yoga Class, Yoga for Honoring Our Dark Side, is all about recognizing all aspects of ourselves. Using postures such as twists and forward folds, we will both honor our dark side and release energies that no longer serve us.
