Cooling Your Body this Summer – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

Summer is in full effect in Austin, Texas with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees for the next two weeks! Although the heat has been excrutiating, I have been getting out to do a lot of fun summer activities to include hanging at several local watering holes.

In addition, I have been going out dancing several nights per week. One of my favorites is hitting Halcyon Coffee Shop for their Latin night. They have such an incredible turnout of amazing dancers and the energy in the room is so elevated with salsa and bachata rhythms blaring in the space.

As you can imagine with all of those bodies getting their groove on in a small space the temperature gets very hot. Last week I danced for three hours strait and left with my dress completely drenched in sweat as if I had taken a shower in my clothes.

Despite all of the sweaty bodies, it is an absolute blast. Although, when you are exerting yourself in such hot conditions it is important to keep your body cool for optimal health.

Of course, one of the best ways to beat the heat this summer is consuming cold drinks and eating cooling foods. Fruits like refrigerated watermelon both physically cool your core temperature from the inside out and keep you hydrated.

If you are feeling overheated by the summer sun, then scroll down and come join me for this week’s floor yoga class, Yoga for Cooling Your Body and release the heat in your body and mind!
