Spending time in southern California last week made me realize the significant impact excellent weather has on our entire being. Beautiful sunny days with moderate temperatures and low humidity enhance our energy, mood and even our ability to breathe well.
Luckily in Texas, cooler temperatures are coming our way and you can sense a crispness in the morning air. This is my favorite time of year making early morning runs such a joy with the cool air filling my lungs.
We all love to breathe easy both figuratively and literally. One way we can enhance our ability to breathe well is by stretching the fascia that connects the ribs and core.
Bringing awareness to this often neglected area of the body increases our capacity to expand our breath. And, when we breathe more deeply, we pump fresh oxygen and blood to the brain. This enhances our mood, energy and ability to think clearly.
This week’s yoga class will assist in making space in the core so we can invite our life-force in more fully.
This week’s 14-minute floor yoga class, Yoga for Stretching the Core, is all about focusing on opening up the fascia in between the ribs. Through postures like dolphin pose and banana pose we will lengthen the muscles and connective tissue in our core. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to make space to breath easier in your body. Enjoy!
