We recently completed a big renovation project in our two bathrooms and they came out amazing! Everything was perfect until it rained a week later and our skylight in the bathroom leaked and turned the clean white paint brown. I sighed noticing the stain and reflected on the new flaw in our incredible space. It reminded me that NOTHING is perfect and if you focus on perfection you are going to live a very stressful life.
I had to let go of the concept of perfection years ago when my daughter was just learning how to walk and would tear up the house like a hurricane. Everything she touched ended up on the floor until there was a pile of toys ankle deep scattered around the living room. My orderly tendencies wanted to follow her around all day picking up, but I realized my efforts were fruitless and quickly let the concept of a neat house go.
I often notice while teaching yoga that students are so worried about perfecting a posture that they miss the fun of experiencing the posture itself.
So, I thought I would share the following practice with you. It is a chance to play with a more challenging balancing posture, Warrior III, with no expectations of the outcome. Enjoy!
This week’s 19 minute Hatha Flow Yoga Class, Yoga for Building Up to Warrior III, is all about using props to slowly work into the posture. This class is perfect for beginners who want to play with Warrior III for the first time and advanced yogis who want to expand their experience within the posture. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to enjoy this posture and release the idea of perfection!
