Integrating Aha Moments – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I am incredibly honored to have held space for a magnificent group of women at the Spring Women’s Wellness Retreat in Wimberley, Texas last weekend. I am so grateful to all of the beautiful ladies who arrived with open hearts to the experience and stepped outside of their comfort to expand their imagination beyond their own container.

The theme of the retreat was Manifesting Your Wildest Dreams. We used a variety of modalities, ceremonies and rituals to expand our limiting beliefs and dream HUGE, visualize our ultimate life and put energy behind our practice to bring our visions into reality. It was a very powerful weekend with many “aha” moments for myself and the attendees.

Whether I attend a retreat or hold space for others, I always walk away with some awakening that opens my heart and changes my perspective about how I want to show up in the world. Retreats are an excellent way to expose yourself to different inspirational practices that support your journey. The challenge is integrating these modalities into your daily living.

Coming home from a retreat experience can feel a little overwhelming because you feel so good and you want to keep that essence alive in your day-to-day life. You think about all of the teachings you absorbed during your experience and you don’t know where to start when it comes to incorporating them into your life. So, here are a few tips you can use on how to assimilate from retreat life back to your “real” world and weave a piece of the lessons into your day.

    1. Sit for a moment in a quiet space and reflect on the most impactful tool you experienced throughout the retreat.
    2. Start with that one tool and see how you can apply it daily/weekly.
    3. Be your own guinea pig. Notice over time how this modality affects your mindset/mood/perspective/well-being.
    4. If this one modality supports your journey, make it into a habit/ritual.
    5. Once you feel like you have created a habit, go back to step #1 and reflect on another practice you can weave into your life.

Developing soul polishing practices little by little will allow you to create life-long habits that support your growth and well-being. If at any time you feel overwhelmed by the practice, drop it and choose something else that brings you pleasure. Simple as that!

This week’s 17 minute Yin Yoga Class, Yin Yoga for Lower Body Stretching, is all about holding floor postures for longer periods of time to release the stretch reflex in the legs and low back. Through yoga poses such as Pigeon, Seated Diamond and Supine Twists we will use the breath to invite our bodies into the posture more deeply. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to release tension in the lower body to create space in your life. Enjoy!
