I had the absolute honor and pleasure of co-leading the very special “Journey to the Heart Retreat” with Rod Hairston on the magical shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. I am so grateful to everyone who attended this week-long practice in peeling back the layers of the onion to connect with our true nature. The transformations I witnessed in such a short amount of time was miraculous as we moved from fear to love.
What resonated most with me was all the courage that was displayed in the retreat to include the physical journey to Guatemala. With everything in the news about foreigners “invading” the United States, there was no doubt a little fear resonating in the minds of the attendees about the level of safety in this unknown land.
But, as we all began to experience the joyous nature of the beautiful Guatemalan people, I observed all the fear melt away and love enter our hearts.
Fear is a tool that our mind uses to keep our body safe. It serves a purpose, because it allows us to react quickly under circumstances like jumping out of the way of a moving car. Fear is meant to be a short term solution, not a way of life.
It is when we reside in fear that this emotion becomes a problem. Just like any challenge you have conquered in your life, when you move towards and through fear, it quickly melts away. The unknown becomes the known. The unease becomes ease. And the non-growth becomes growth.
In current times of uncertainty, we can choose fear as a crutch to point fingers at the outside world and say “they are bad.” Or we can choose love and say “we are all humans looking for happiness.” I choose LOVE!
This week’s FREE 24-minute YIN Yoga class, YOGA for OPENING THE HEART, is all about peeling back the layers of the onion to get to your pure true nature which resides at the heart. This class will increase flexibility, open your heart center and bring peace to your mind as you move from fear to love.
Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. I hope you will join me in this opportunity to celebrate your highest self.
