Healthy Holiday Meal Digestion – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I am not perfect, but I eat relatively healthy throughout the year. There are a few occasions where I totally let loose in the binge department and Thanksgiving is one of them. Traditionally, I like to get up early on Thanksgiving morning to go for a run. This small effort in exertion gives my mind permission to eat whatever and as much as I want on this day of giving thanks.

Normally I observe a dairy and gluten-free diet. But, on this special occasion my healthy radar is down and anything goes. It’s wonderful in the moment to enjoy the potluck of traditional culinary delights. “In the moment” is the key phrase of this sentence.

Hours after the holiday indulgence my belly gives me the signal that I have overdone it and I begin to regret my glutenous ways. I start to become uncomfortable and cranky.

No wonder the change in attitude. We store 90% of our serotonin, our feel-good hormones, in our gut. Therefore, if our belly is unhappy then our mind is unhappy.

If you have gone the extra mile in gobbling down your favorite treats this holiday season and your belly is feeling a little troubled, then come join me for this weeks quick 6 minute emergency Yoga for Healthy Digestion class and get what was once in…out!
