Tuning into Your Health – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

Lately, I have had limited time to exercise.  Therefore, I have been focused on doing a quick run in the morning.  Normally, I would spend some time stretching and using the foam roller afterward.  But, my recent time crunch has stopped me from doing these additional exercises that have helped me stay injury free.

After several weeks with nothing to counteract the pounding of my daily jogs, I began to sense a twinge in my shins and feet.  Carelessly, I continued to run without addressing the issue and of course the symptoms developed into an injury.

It is so important to tune into the feedback our body gives us on a daily basis.  When you bring awareness to how your body feels at rest and during exercise, you begin to gain knowledge of what it requires to be in balance.  And, when there is balance, there is no injury.

Before you engage in your next exercise routine, check in with yourself and see what you require.  Maybe you need a little extra stretching because you feel tight.  Maybe you need a little more cardio to energize yourself.

Paying attention to how you feel and addressing your physical needs will keep you injury free for a lifetime! This week’s yoga class will get you motivated for incorporating a stretching routine.

    Yoga for Opening Lower Body

This week’s 16-minute Hatha Yoga Class, Yoga for Opening Lower Body, is focused on lengthening the muscles in the legs. Through postures like pigeon pose and low lunges we will concentrate our attention on opening the glutes, hamstring, calves, hip flexors, IT band and more. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to increase flexibility in our lower extremities. Enjoy!
