I had such an incredible week being away with my friends in Cancun. It is always difficult to transition from vacation mode back to reality. My mind often swirls trying to get caught up on the things that I missed while gone. And, of course, there are unexpected emergencies to address. Definitely a different sensation from the relaxed feeling I so recently experienced.
In times like these when I am feeling overwhelmed, I like to take a moment to get grounded. What does “getting grounded” mean? It means calming your nervous system so you feel safe and secure in your body and mind.
There are many ways you can get grounded. One of the easiest ways is to be outside in nature (preferably barefoot) and feel the earth under your feet. If you can not make it outdoors, then just sitting on the floor and feeling the connection of your seat to the world below you is very effective. I love doing grounding yoga practices to bring my wild mind back to center.
