SXSW Music Festival is one of my favorite things to do in Austin, Texas. It is a unique experience because bands from all over the world come to the city during spring break in the hopes that they will get discovered. Instead of having one location for the event, every business in town including bars, sandwich shops and even gas stations are a venue for live music this week.
I love hopping around to the free day parties where you get exposed to a wide genre of music including rockabilly, country, hard rock, R&B and everything in between. This year I stumbled upon a band that blew me away!
Snacktime is a seven-piece band out of Philly, blazing a path cut from their soul, funk, punk, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B influences. The combination of four brass horns, stellar electric guitar and base, kickass drums and upbeat lyrics weave together the perfect balance of high vibe energy and fun to get the crowd going.
Their intentional blend of optimistic words about togetherness, love and peace along with their fun-loving aura stimulated both my analytical and creative brain. It reminded me how important it is to have balance between these two aspects of ourselves.
If we reside too much in our left analytical mind we stunt our ability to have vision and innovation. When we are stuck in our right creative mind we lack the opportunity for logic and cognitive thinking. It is the perfect balance of these polar ways of processing that bring harmony to our body, mind and spirit.
Wondering how you can bring a little balance into your world? Scroll down and come join me for this week’s short Alternate Nostril Breathing class that will stimulate both the right and left brain and bring equilibrium into your life!

This week’s 6 minute Nadi Shodahana, Alternate Nostril Breathing is all about using this breathing tool to balance the body and the mind. When we breathe into our left nostril it stimulates the right, creative brain. When we breathe into the right nostril it stimulates the left, analytical brain. By alternating our breathing pattern through each nostril, we will bring balance into our lives. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY.
