Laughter is Medicine – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I have a very unique laugh. Many people have told me that my laugh sounds like Fran Drescher from the show “The Nanny”. I think that is hilarious and I totally agree. When I get rolling with a full-on belly howl nothing can stop the boisterous guffaw that can be heard from a mile away.

Laughing is one of my favorite things to do. So, when I laugh I am all-in with tears streaming down my face and maybe even my leg (if you know what I mean 😉 When I get together with friends or family we often find ourselves in hysterical fits of giggling over the silliest things. If you can’t laugh at your friend who fell on their face, who can you laugh at??? Haha!

Laughing is one of the healthiest things you can do for your system. When you laugh it increases endorphins, enhances your mood, reduces stress and boosts your immune system. All of these amazing effects are at your fingertips for free (no pill required).

Sometimes we feel so down that we do not have it in us to chuckle. That is when the term “Fake it to you make it” comes in handy. We can simulate laughter and use it as a tool to trigger all of the incredible medicine this self-regulating gift provides. Our mind can not distinguish between real and fake laughter. Therefore, we can use this exercise to gain all of the benefits true cackles give us.

Need some inspiration in the giggle department? Want to hear my one-of-a-kind laugh? Scroll down and come join me for this week’s short class, Yoga for Laughing and turn your frown upside down! Enjoy!
