The Greatest Love of All – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I have always had an affinity for Valentine’s Day. Maybe it’s because I was born on this red and pink heart-filled fiesta. However, in addition to commemorating another year around the sun, I think it is wonderful that the world sets aside time to honor the highest vibration emotional state of love.

Although this holiday is very focused on celebrating with a companion, I believe we need to shift the attentions of our adorations to recognize our first and most important love.

I remember in the 80’s when Whitney Houston released the song “The Greatest Love of All”. My Mom and I sat in the living room belting out the lyrics to that tune from the top of our lungs. We must have sang it 100-times before our throats ran dry and our neighbors begged us to shut the windows.

The last line of her powerful lyrics always stuck with me. “Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.” That is why I have developed my own personal practice of self-love through positive affirmations I repeat in mind on a daily basis. In addition, on this special day, I always take time for self-care like getting a massage or pedicure to honor that I am a special being.

You too can establish habits that encourage self-love. Sometimes we have to fake it until we make it. However, over time with consistent effort, you will cultivate a genuine sense of love for yourself and will have achieved the Greatest Love of All!
