I have been working with one of my favorite private yoga clients, Peter, for the past eleven years. Over the course of our time together, we have steadily increased our meetings from once per week to currently meeting five days per week. Our sessions incorporate yoga, running and resistance training for a total mind/body workout.
Equally important in a balanced exercise routine is rest. One might think that the more exercise the better, but studies show that intentional rest days are enhance recovery and longevity.
Incorporating complete rest days into your weekly routine will help to prevent injury and allow your movement regiment to be more sustainable as you age. If one full day of rest is not possible, adding a short bout of intentional relaxation into your everyday practice can have a similar positive effect on your body and mind.
Need some guidance on how to intentionally rest? Please join me for this week’s guided practice, Intentional Rest Exercise, where we will use our breath and awareness to relax every cell of our being. Enjoy!
Looking for a little R & R? Then join us for the Thriving through Every Stage of a Woman’s Life Retreat October 4th-6th in Wimberely, Texas. There are only a few spaces left. See details below and save your space today!
