Spring Rejuvenation – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

Several years ago, one spring day I arrived at my house to find a tremendous potted plant sitting at my front door. The flowers were some of the most stunning that I had ever seen with their huge red blossoms that seemed to welcome me home.

At first I thought this fabulous surprise was from my neighbor Mike, who has an incredible green thumb. We often gift plants back and forth, but when I asked him about it, he said he wasn’t the culprit. “So weird,” I thought. “Who could it be?”

I asked around to a few other neighbors, but none of them would take ownership of this fun present. As I was taking my dog for a loop around the neighborhood, I spotted the brilliant red flowers in the front yard of a nearby house. I knocked on my friend Cherrie’s door and sure enough she admitted to being the mystery gifter. What a thoughtful surprise, as she knew how much I loved plants.

As the growing season came to a halt and we headed into winter, the green leaves of my beautiful Amaryllis plant died back and all that remained was a brown stump barely sticking out of the ground. I thought for sure I had some how neglected this beauty and killed my prized possession, but as spring began to pop, some brilliant light green leaves started to sprout from the ground.

The Amaryllis rejuvenated so quickly you could almost watch its’ several inches of daily growth with your naked eye. I observed this odd, almost alien looking shoot pop up out of nowhere. Before I knew it, the vibrant plant displayed its magnificent gigantic, red flowers once again.

Spring is the perfect time to observe our own energy and notice if we need a little focus on reviving our essence. Coming out of the winter season, we can feel a little sluggish and may need to take some action in order to kick ourselves into high gear.

So, I thought I would share a fun yoga practice that will help dust away the cobwebs in your body and mind and encourage a natural state of brilliance!
