Releasing Anxiety – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

I found an old, dirty hummingbird feeder in the shed and decided to clean it up so I could hang it in my back yard sanctuary.  We don’t get many hummingbirds back there, so I thought I would try to entice these fairy-like creatures to swing by and pay me a visit.

This space is a place I always retreat to when I am feeling upset, because the garden eases my spirits.  Needless to say, with everything happening in the world, I have been spending a lot of time back there running around bare foot, trying to let Mother Earth absorb some of my frazzled energy.

I woke up this past Monday with an anxious feeling that I could not settle.  My mind seemed to be racing about a million things and there was a pit in my stomach.  I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders and I couldn’t shake it off.

So, I headed out my back door to my reprieve and sat on the deck contemplating the cause of my angst.  My emotions began to grow and I felt overwhelmed.  I opened my heart up to the universe and thought “Please give me a sign everything will be all right.”

Within an instant of my thought, my first hummingbird appeared at the feeder, zoomed over to check me out and then zipped away.  Wow!  Talk about instant feedback from the cosmos.

Of course, I ran to consult my favorite book, Animal Speak by Ted Andrews, to learn the meaning of my special animal spirit.  And, it’s no surprise that this is what it said:”The hummingbirdspiritanimal appears out of nowhere bearing gifts of joy and happiness, bringing with it an air of magic in your life. It’s a symbol of good things!”

I immediately felt relief sweep over me and my worries melt away. If hummingbird says everything will be OK, then it must be true. How do YOU let go of anxiety, fear and worry?
This week’s 25-minute FREE floor yoga class, Yoga for Releasing Anxiety, is all about focusing on the hips where we store emotions and the shoulders and shoulder blades where we hold a sense of overwhelm. Using a ball to give ourselves a pressure point massage, we will let go of stagnant energy that is blocking our natural state-of-balance.
Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to dive into extreme self-care, so that we may function at an optimal level.
