The Daily Detox – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

We just finished up our 6-week exploration of Thailand and I have to say, it is one of my favorite countries in the world thus far.  This incredible nation has everything from emerald green mountains and exotic elephants to crystal blue waters and white sand beaches.

And you can live like a queen treating yourself to some of the best local cuisine for a couple of dollars per meal and relaxing massages for only $10.00 per hour.  At that rate, we took advantage and spoiled ourselves with these luxuries.

Because much of Thailand is not easily accessed by car, we made Bangkok our base and flew to the more remote areas for greater ease.  That being said, we had the opportunity to stay in this capital city off and on for almost two weeks.  And unlike the rest of the country, Bangkok is my least favorite city in the world.

The streets, trains and buses are over packed with millions of people, so you find yourself waiting in endless lines and a three mile cab ride could take more than an hour.  Kayla and I horrified Scott one day, because we took a taxi to a cat café and missed our rendezvous back at the hotel by an hour and half.  Traffic was at a dead stand still and it took us four rounds of a 5-minute long traffic light just to inch forward a few feet.  With no opportunity to contact my poor husband, he had a search party out looking for us.

With millions of cars, buses and motor bikes spewing out toxins from leaded fuel, the air quality is horrendous.  During our time in Bangkok, the air pollutants reached an all-time high and the government called for citizens to wear face masks to protect themselves.  There was a visible brown haze in the sky and we rarely saw the sun.

Needless to say, between the congestion and pollution, Bangkok is not my cup of tea.  But, one of the benefits of long-term travel, whether things are good or bad, they are always temporary.  Which lead me to thinking, how do the locals live under such stressful conditions on a daily basis?

Can you imagine taking hours each day to do a 10-mile commute, while dodging thousands of motorcycles and tuk tuk’s wizzing by at dangerously high speeds?  My nervous systems would be shot.  And to think of spending the majority of your life never enjoying the sun or experiencing the moon and stars makes my heart ache.

No matter where you live or what you do, we are all exposed to toxins in our daily lives.  Chemical, environmental and stress pollutants fill our body and mind and we need a way to cleanse them from our system.  Detoxing through proper nutrition and movement can assist in releasing harmful contaminants from our entire being.

This week’s 23-minute FREE Yoga Class, Yin Yoga for Detoxing, is all about cleansing the body and mind of toxins. Through Asana, pranayama and meditation you will wring out stagnant and blocked energy, physical and mental toxins and invite fresh blood, oxygen and thoughts into your being.

Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY.  Please join me in this opportunity to cleanse your entire spirit. Enjoy!
