Uniting with Nature – Yoga with Meditation Mutha

My backyard garden is my sanctuary. I go there to literally touch my bare feet on the soil and get grounded. When my inner world is chaotic, I escape to the vibrant colors and sounds of nature to calm me. This tranquil space is my temple where I feel most at home and at peace.

Although my instinct to head outdoors when I need to settle my spirit may sound a little woo woo, there is actually a scientific explanation to my deep longing to be in nature. Breathing in the scent of Mother Earth stimulates the release of the hormone Oxytocin, the same chemical that promotes bonding between mother and child and between lovers. It is no wonder that we feel different when we are in nature. We are held in Mother Nature’s loving arms and our bodies react at the cellular level.

So next time you are feeling frazzled or longing for a reset, take a centering nature hike in the woods or just sit in your yard and observe the buzzing world around you. Nature Bathing, the official word for soaking up the natural world, is bound to replenish your soul and enliven your spirit!
Come join me for this week’s yoga class where we will bring awareness to the natural world around us. Enjoy!

This week’s 22 minute Hatha Flow Yoga class, Yoga for Uniting with Nature, is all about bringing awareness to the natural world and connecting with those energies around us. Through postures like down dog, we will ground into the earth as we rise up towards the sky. Yoga with Meditation Mutha is for everyBODY. Please join me in this opportunity to absorb nature’s energy.
